One thing jumped out at me from the status report: everything was "add", which reminded me of many old languages designed by accretion. Are the new facilities so perfectly orthogonal as not to subsume anything that was already there? Are none of them simply relaxations of previous limitatations? Parsimony is part of the allure of Haskell. What do the new facilities enable one to discard from the Haskell 98 report?
