I *hate* that. There should be a "/Local/Applications" by default to drag stuff into and install stuff into, and "/Applications" should be stuff that only Apple fucks with. Then maybe the few remaining idiot developers who write pointless "installers" would catch on and at LEAST install to a hierarchy that you can drag into a new computer. It makes upgrades SO much easier. (as for the 'spatial finder', that's a whole separate hate)
