When I left my last job in May I had been using a system with 64-bit size_t
for about a decade, so I would be utterly gobstruck if there's no software
currently in existence that's reading and writing more than 2G at a shot.
I'm similarly both much amused and grief-stricken by the talk of
64-bit being something new and amazingly wonderful and just around the
corner. For Intel marketdroids, maybe so.
