I want to choose the colour for an alpha channel by clicking on something of

I get a "Colour to Alpha Clour Picker" but there's no way to select anything
from my image. I have to use the colour picker Tool to get the RGB
information, and then manually enter it into the Colour Picker dialog.
On the other hand, if you want to take a screen shot of OpenOffice (useful since
it's PNG export blows), gimp will do it, while xv ("a pretty nifty X program",
as it introduces itself) will instead share it's opinion on OpenOffice, which is
generally aligned with my own:
X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)
Major Opcode: 3
While OpenOffice windows may be called Bad Windows, it is still a pity that the
mediocre xv windows evaporate, leaving me with the exit status 255 - even more
Major than the Opcode 3. I like integers.
Not that it justifies anything else in gimp.
