Apparently so. Silly of me to beleive screen which told me I had "dead" screen sessions and suggested to run `screen -wipe`, which put a living session into a coma.
I would appreciate any advice regarding the management of screen sessions since that's my primary defense mechanism against the crashes of my desktop. In particular, I wonder how to tell a dead screen from a living one.
