It does a lot of things wrong, the most striking being that software that deals with mail is incapable of one of the most basic aspects of mail: handling quoted-printable text. Of course, it has absolutely no concept of anything beyond ASCII. Its thread rendering also makes it IMPOSSIBLE to link to replies in a thread; only initial posts get URIs. That makes it impossible to read or refer to anything in one of those three-week flamefests the list has seen. Which is maybe just as well. In short, the hates-software web archive is the worst mailing list web archive I've ever had to deal with. I tries to feel more webbish than others, but only succeeds in the pointy-haired boss sense of webbish. Regards, -- Aristotle Pagaltzis // <http://plasmasturm.org/>
