Is this relating to the new support in the devel branch for speaking
SMTP natively, or are you using the older "sendmail as MSA" interface?

If the latter, then when you run "mutt -Q sendmail" then you're missing
-oi or -i and I'm fairly sure this would be your mistake or your
packager's mistake, since I'm fairly sure that mutt defaults to passing
-oi so that it's the MSA's responsibility to dot-stuff.

If the former, then you've just been bitten by running devel code.
Sucks, but that's what you get.  I just checked the code and it looks
like it dot-stuffs and that this was in the original commit.  Might be
buggy and not happening but I'd have thought this would be known before
now.
