So I'm on a group call I started in Skype, and I hear the new
5.5/Win release is much less cluttered than previous versions.
I click "Check for update" in the menu and Skype gets excited to
tell me there's a new version and don't I want to download it.
Sure, go ahead. It manages to go at only ~5% of my bandwith so it
takes forever and then some. Once done, it automatically launches
the installer -- which terminates the running instance of Skype,
ending the group call from under everyone on it. Then it takes a
short while to install... and comes back with a new version of
5.3.something.

(As for the reduced clutter in 5.5? Not worth the mention...)
