Maven + IntelliJ is awesome! I currently use a shell script to publish
snapshots of HBase to our repository.  It works but it's a royal pain in
backside to maintain... :)

I'd also love a small client jar that contains as few classes as possible.
Especially not the jetty stuff!  We use embedded jetty and currently have to
modify the hbase jar to remove refences to jetty so our app starts...
