Is the a way to just lock a family rather than an entire row? If not, has
there ever been a discussion around this idea? The use case I am thinking of
is around have de-normalized data, e.g. if a Book has an Publisher then in
addition to having a Publisher table containing all publishers I might want
to store the related Publisher data in each Book row. The Publisher data I
would put in its own Book family. At the moment when I update a Publisher
record I then have to lock the Book rows I am updating also. I like the idea
of more fine grained control and just locking the publisher family in my
Book row. Does this make any sense?
