You're trying something I haven't done myself, so I don't know for sure what
Cloudera Manager is doing. A few questions:
* Do you already have a HiveMetaStore running that Cloudera Manager started for
you?
* Can you run Hive queries against some data?
* What version of Hive did Cloudera Manager install?
How are you hoping to use HCatalog (pig/MR/other)? HCatalog opens up your Hive
data to other processing frameworks, which implies you already can run queries
against your data in Hive.
