Hi Nathan, Before you haul the PowerEdge or any other equipment into Peer 1, we should check if a rack kit is needed. There are three possible styles of mounting that I have seen, and the style of rack that the colo site uses determines the rack kit we have to buy, if one is required:
1) colo provider may use "shelf" mounting. He.net did this, and you don't need a rack kit at all, but we would have to buy a shelf that is mounted in the rack. 2-3) colo provider may have either "Versa" rails or "rapid" rails. In either case, we would have to buy an appropriate rack mounting kit for the server. Just wanted to mention this to save us time when we finally send the machine to Peer 1. We should probably call in advance and check the type of rack they install colo customers in, and buy any necessary equipment ahead of time (this probably goes for the switch, and the Sun server as well).
