Yup, everything is working as expected on deleuze.  I also turned off 
named recursion on this machine and tested this using dig.  Thanks for 
fixing this!

Now the only problem that I'm having is that I can't log in to mire.  I 
think that I may have changed a local password on deleuze but not the 
ldap one.  Would someone mind resetting my pass again in ldap so that I 
can log in to mire and set up bind there, and putting my password into a 
.pass file in my home directory again?  Also, what is the command to 
change an ldap password on these systems?  I have a feeling that I 
messed it up before by using the passwd command. 

Sorry about my ignorance on how this is set up.
