Agreed. My plan is to add a number of cores command line option as part of converting all the scripts to use the same mechanism for handling setting of default options, retrieving of command line specified options, reporting on options specified, supporting a --help option to show usage information, and reporting errors and exiting on unrecognized options.
Some of the scripts have already been modified to do all this in a standardized way. Making all the rest of the scripts behave similarly is pretty high on my priority list, but not yet at the top.
