To investigators that have used the instructions in HCP FAQ #9, "How do I
map data between FreeSurfer and HCP?" (
https://wiki.humanconnectome.org/display/PublicData/HCP+Users+FAQ):

A new atlas-to-atlas registration has been computed, which improves upon
the original version of these instructions. Compared to the original
registration used, the new registration has shifts of a few millimeters in
many parts of the cortex. It was computed in a method similar to
"dedrifting", making use of the freesurfer registrations that are a
byproduct of the processing pipelines.

As part of this change, the latest pipelines release (v3.22.0) contains the
updated resampling files in the resample_fsaverage folder. However, part
of the resampling instructions have also changed, specifically part D,
"resampling individual data from fs_LR to fsaverage"

Appendix 3 of the new instruction document contains details of the change
in the registration, and steps you can take to use the new registration,
even if you no longer have the data prior to resampling. This appendix
also says where to find the old files from the previous resampling
instructions, if you need to continue using the old registration. The new
instructions, including this appendix, are here:
