Hi Ariana, For NIH Toolbox, the performance measures (including picture sequence and list sorting) are scored with a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15. The patient-reported-outcome (PRO) measures (all the others on your list) are scored with a mean of 50 and a standard deviation of 10 (like T-scores). Here are the highest unadjusted scale scores (not adjusted for age, gender, race, ethnicity, or education) we see among the HCP subjects:
* Picture Sequence: Highest unadjusted scale score 135.55 * List Sorting: Highest unadjusted scale score 144.5 * perceived stress: : Highest unadjusted scale score 80.5 * Positive Affect: Highest unadjusted scale score 71.6 * Self Efficicacy: Highest unadjusted scale score 68.4 * Anger Affect: Highest unadjusted scale score 85.4 * Fear Affect: Highest unadjusted scale score 84.9 * Sadness Affect: Highest unadjusted scale score 78.1 The raw Toolbox scores we have available show the actual answers given by each participant for the items they were presented within each test. The Toolbox tests are set in the software to discontinue if a participant answers incorrectly on a number of questions (varies per test) at a particular difficulty level, so it isn't possible for us to calculate raw scores for participants across items for a particular test because participants are presented different numbers of items based on their performance. Hope that helps and good luck with your analyses! You are right that scores available for download from ConnectomeDB are unadjusted scale scores and age-adjusted scale scores. If you are looking at the raw Toolbox data the scoring is not scaled and you may have to ask the Toolbox helpdesk for more information ([email protected]). It may also be that since many of the Toolbox measures are computer-adaptive tests in which a subject's responses change what questions they are given for the rest of the test, there may not be a good answer for the maximum score possible. Looking at the Scoring Guide again, the Toolbox people would likely advise that you consider the scores scaled to their norming sample rather than an absolute max. In any case, I should be able to get you the highest scores that an HCP subject had for the tests for which you are interested. I have read the manual for the NIH toolbox and I cannot link their scoring system to the scores given by the HCP. From what I can tell, the HCP is providing the "Unadjusted Scale Scores", which is detailed on page 3 of the 2012 version of the NIH toolbox scoring and interpretation guide (attached in this email). I was wondering what the maximum possible values are for the tests listed below. We have looked at the NIH toolbox manual and interpretation guide, the HCP data dictionary, and the ASEBA website (http://www.aseba.org/adults.html), but have not been able to find this information. I need this information for the following scores: * Picture Sequence * List Sorting * ASR internalizing (maximum score for raw scores) * ASR externalizing (maximum score for raw scores) * ASR anxiety and depression (maximum score for raw scores) * perceived stress * DSM depression (maximum score for raw scores) * DSM anxiety (maximum score for raw scores) * Positive Affect * Self Efficiency * Anger Affect * Fear Affect * Sadness Affect Thanks, -- Ariana Cahn BSc (Hons), Neuroscience [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> _______________________________________________ HCP-Users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.humanconnectome.org/mailman/listinfo/hcp-users
