Hi Nicole,
1) In the VSPLOT test given as part of the Penn CNP battery, participants are shown two lines with different orientations. They have to rotate one of the lines (a moveable blue one) so that is parallel to the other line (a fixed red line). The rotation of the blue line is accomplished by clicking buttons on the keyboard that rotate the lines either clockwise or counterclockwise. VSPLOT_OFF is the total # of orientation positions (clicks) off the correct one (correct is parallel to the reference line) the participant has across all 24 trials. Therefore, VSPLOT_OFF is a measure of how inefficient/incorrect the orientation matching was for that participant over all trials (see Moore et al., 2015<https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4549167/#R14>). 2) Details on the EMOTION task and all the other in-scanner tasks are available in the S1200 Release Reference Manual<https://www.humanconnectome.org/storage/app/media/documentation/s1200/HCP_S1200_Release_Reference_Manual.pdf> pp. 46-54. 3) Higher score or greater distance walked for Endurance_Unadj indicates higher endurance. Faster completion times (less time to complete, lower Dexterity_Unadj scale scores) represents greater manual dexterity. For more info on the scoring for the NIH Toolbox measures, here is a link to the HCP Young Adult NIH Toolbox Scoring Manual for the Assessment Center data as it was when we froze the HCP protocol in 2012: <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__wustl.box.com_v_HCP1200-2DNIHToolbox-2DRaw&d=DwMF-g&c=yHlS04HhBraes5BQ9ueu5zKhE7rtNXt_d012z2PA6ws&r=NLatqKT3CF2mnKV83B0v12_b1PIFxowLYC8PUluTqj4&m=CuilXRywJ8ILHWwa-4G_nmMwzK_eMN2BXOFihMCM2hs&s=W8zMC315QQ-GC1YCMTGnMyKomIan3Ymv-nj-SotpW9Y&e=> <https://wustl.app.box.com/v/HCP1200-NIHToolbox-Raw> https://wustl.app.box.com/v/HCP1200-NIHToolbox-Raw/file/198453442057 <https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__wustl.box.com_v_HCP1200-2DNIHToolbox-2DRaw&d=DwMF-g&c=yHlS04HhBraes5BQ9ueu5zKhE7rtNXt_d012z2PA6ws&r=NLatqKT3CF2mnKV83B0v12_b1PIFxowLYC8PUluTqj4&m=CuilXRywJ8ILHWwa-4G_nmMwzK_eMN2BXOFihMCM2hs&s=W8zMC315QQ-GC1YCMTGnMyKomIan3Ymv-nj-SotpW9Y&e=><https://wustl.app.box.com/v/HCP1200-NIHToolbox-Raw> <https://wustl.app.box.com/v/HCP1200-NIHToolbox-Raw/file/198453442057> 4) For the Toolbox Taste intensity test, the participants are allowed to mouse click a spectrum from 0-100 on a spot/percentage that represents their perception of the taste intensity. The anchor points are displayed along the spectrum for reference from 0, no sensation to 100, strongest imaginable sensation. The Taste_Unadj is the normative scale score for the quinine solution, not adjusted for age or other factors. Again, see the Toolbox Scoring Manual linked above for more info. The data dictionary states "Penn Line Orientation: Total Positions Off for All Trials", does this refer to (1) the number of times the subjects provided an incorrect response or the number of times the line to match was initially presented in a position that was "Off" from the target of (2) the total number of trials given to subjects that are OFF from the correct orientation? 2) Is there more detailed information on precisely what was tested for the In-scanner tasks? e.g Emotion_Task_Acc is described as "Average accuracy Percentage during EMOTION task", however, what does the emotion task constitute? 3) Can I confirm that a higher score for Endurance_Unadj indicates greater endurance (since a greater distance was walked), while a higher score for Dexterity_Unadj indicates less dexterity (since the time taken to complete a task was measured. i.e the more time taken to complete the task, the poorer the dexterity) 4) Can I confirm that for Taste_Unadj, the seven anchor labels provided (Strongest imaginable, Very strong, Strong, Moderate, Weak, Barely detectable, No sensation) on a 0-100 scale, are administered as 0 is for no sensation, and increases to 100 for strongest imaginable ?
