News from the Human Connectome Project (HCP)
January 17, 2018
Due to the need to shift our resources as we prepare to expand the data we
distribute through the Connectome Coordinating Facility (CCF), we are
announcing the retirement of the Connectome in a Box program that has
distributed HCP Young Adult data on hard drives for nearly 5 years.

The full HCP Young Adult dataset will continue to be available through download
from ConnectomeDB<https://db.humanconnectome.org/> and though our Amazon Web
Services<https://wiki.humanconnectome.org/display/PublicData/How+to+Get+Access+to+the+HCP+OpenAccess+Amazon+S3+Bucket>
S3 bucket. In future, HCP data and all CCF-distributed data will be released
via the NIH National Data Archive<https://data-archive.nimh.nih.gov/ccf>, which
also uses AWS for its underlying storage.

What Does This Mean For My Existing Order?

Our remaining inventory of hard drives allows us to fulfill each of the
Connectome in a Box orders that are currently in our queue. Additionally, we
will be able to handle a small number of new orders for the 1200 Subjects
Dataset and MEG Subjects Dataset hard drives. We will be fulfilling those
orders on a first-come, first-served basis. If you have been holding off on
ordering, this is the time to do so at
https://store.humanconnectome.org<https://store.humanconnectome.org/data>.

Any orders that we cannot fulfill will be refunded in full, including all
preorders for the 7T Subjects Dataset. With 7T functional data still undergoing
reprocessing, we will not be able to package and distribute this dataset as a
Connectome In A Box. However, it will be available via download or AWS.

As always, if you have any specific questions related to ordering, feel free to
contact us at [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>.

Best,
The HCP Data Distribution Team
