They should be. Have you searched the list for previous recipes for REST calls into the CREST resource? It may be simply that your path isn't correct. The FS data folder structure begins at <subjID>/T1w/<subjID>, so you probably want something like <subjID>/T1w/<subjID>/surf/lh.white
