Hi, I'm having trouble understanding the utility of object references (other than references to dataset hyperslabs). With soft and hard links, and external softlinks, under what circumstances would an object reference be better? Can you reference meta data (object attributes)? Can you use these references as metadata?
The tutorial and documentation on the hdf website seems to do a good job explaining how to create and work with object references, but I don't understand their utility.
