Thank you Quincey. In the meantime, just to give you an idea, what we have done for now is to use application/x-bag as the MIME, in the absence of an HDF5 MIME. But when the HDF5 MIME does become available we would do something like application/x-hdf;subtype=bagas BAG format uses HDF5 to provide the basic mechanism of data encapsulation and file I/O. Thus the MIME will not only benefit HDF5 users directly but for others as well who use HDF5 to create file formats and are looking to exchange data over the web. I've registered an issue for this though, and we'll put it into our work queue. Quincey On May 3, 2012, at 11:04 AM, Aditya Aggarwal wrote:Any insight with request will be helpful. Thanks. The goal here is to identify if there is such a mime type specified which can then be used to define a mechanism to define MIME types for files based on HDF5. For example, for a BAG (Bathymetry Attributed Grid https://marinemetadata.org/references/bag) file the MIME can then be defined as application/x-hdf;subtype=bag in line with IANA standards (http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4288).
