From past experience, it is likely to compile and pass all tests. One may need
to adjust
the optimization level. (For example, -O3 may have some glitches while -O0

Folks in OpenMPI and MPICH land have been having problems with libtool.
It parses "10.10" as the much older "10.1" and uses some decade-old
workaround that in 2014 is not good:

but it sounds like that's not a problem for HDF5 ? good!

BTW, the previous optimization issues do not apply to the latest version of
clang compilers
for 10.8 and 10.9 systems.

Not supporting it and not compiling are 2 different things in my mind. I just
need to know if it is not compiling for some reason. I have new developers who
are going to get new Macs which dictates they will get OS X 10.10. If HDF5 does
not compile then I am need to come up with Plan B.
