Also, 

- This patch will fail on Solaris and other operating systems that don't use 
GNU tar.  It should use tar without the z option and pass to gzip to be more 
portable
- it adds a requirement for wget as part of the build system which seems 
unnecessary.  Shouldn't ivy or maven or one of these other fancy build tools be 
able to pull this code down?
