Jing Zhao updated HDFS-7991:
----------------------------
    Attachment: HDFS-7991.004.patch

The 004 patch uses subshell to run the {{saveNamespace}} command through the
hdfs script. However, to make sure we still use the original {{HADOOP_OPTS}},
currently I have to define a new environment variable
{{HADOOP_NAMENODE_CHECKPOINT_OPTS}}.

[~aw], please let me know if this way looks ok to you. Also any other idea
capturing the original value of {{HADOOP_OPTS}}? Thanks.

> Allow users to skip checkpoint when stopping NameNode

> This is a follow-up jira of HDFS-6353. HDFS-6353 adds the functionality to
> check if saving namespace is necessary before stopping namenode. As [~kihwal]
> pointed out in this

> in a secured cluster this new functionality requires the user to be kinit'ed.
