Thanks [~zhz] for the idea. Having a dummy erasure coder sounds good to me to 
isolate possible coder bugs. When it's there I would take a look.
By the way, how did you pass the test failure in {{TestRecoverStripedFile}} 
reported in HADOOP-11938? It has a simple work around patch attached there.
