Summary: ReadStatistics not thread safe when hedged read is enabled

When hedged read is enabled, the actual read will be called on the hedged
thread pool which will also call {{updateReadStatistics}}. However, it seems
{{ReadStatistics}} doesn't use atomic types for its metrics. [~xieliang007],
can you please confirm?
