We recently submitted a paper with Dhruba based on an implementation of a
possible snapshot solution for HDFS. While the paper broadly tries to address
both truncates and appends, it would be really nice to get some feedback and
advise on some design decisions and I would love to submit a HDFS patch for the
same. The paper can be accessed at
