[~vinodkv], This bug fix was originally requested by our grid operations team.
It could introduce an incompatibility to certain users, but was considered
critical enough to be pushed to branch-2* at that time. I have opened
HDFS-10776 for continuing further discussion and appreciate any
suggestions/ideas you may have on this. Thanks a lot!
