We still have an outstanding question for Sergey that affects the PathHandle
vs. FileStatus choice: whether these IDs need to be passed cross-process. A
FileStatus will be significantly bigger in this case.
DirectFS sounds like overkill, I'd hope we can address this with an incremental
improvement.
