[~subru] and [~asuresh] are driving the release of 2.9.
When cherry-picking HDFS-10467 into branch-2, I found a few incompatibilities
after cherry-picking.
For branch-2 to build properly we need this fixes.
Should I do the cherry pick and immediately apply the attached patch?
I'm attaching the full diff to branch-2 just in case.
