I implemented almost exactly the same pattern as part of HDFS-12681. Sorry for
the overlap, I'd forgotten about this issue until your last update.
Other than the names in the builder and the defaults, the builder part of both
patches is nearly identical. Does this modification to your patch look OK? I'll
rebase HDFS-12681 if this is OK to commit.
