[~crh] do you have any particular instance of this error that you've seen in
your setup?
If so, we should try to add a unit test triggering that exception.
Regarding finishing the thread, we could fail the whole Router when this
happens too.
I'm guessing that right now the creator dies and the Router keeps working
without being able to do much.
