I am also not sure what is the long-term strategy. For example, I would like to
use a tracing library (opentracing/opencensus) but it works only if we improve
it in the hadoop-common. With switching to fixed hadoop version (3.2) we need
to wait for the next 3.3 release to use it. But I would prefer to improve the
common code in hadoop-common.
