Posting a preview patch for early comments. Scope is as described in this jira.
Coding is complete. But I have done testing manually, by running the integrity
checks on Open as well as Closed Containers. In the process of adding automated
unit tests for this change.
Will update the patch once the tests are ready.
Looking for feedback/suggestions and reviews.
