Alejandro Abdelnur commented on HDFS-2316: ------------------------------------------ Regarding #1, I'm not sure SQL is a good example of this, SQL is a mess, it depends on the SQL vendor and how the SQL DB is configured. Regarding #4, OK Regarding #5, assuming that that is the case (that clients would do the conversion), would you please tell me what kind of libraries would help to do such conversion by having the root/array names as being proposed? And how this conversion is made simple by having those elements? Regarding #6, let me rephrase my previous comment, if we have full interoperability between webhdfs and hoop then I don't see a need for having 2 client implementations of the 'http' filesystem. > webhdfs: a complete FileSystem implementation for accessing HDFS over HTTP > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > Key: HDFS-2316 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDFS-2316 > Project: Hadoop HDFS > Issue Type: New Feature > Reporter: Tsz Wo (Nicholas), SZE > Assignee: Tsz Wo (Nicholas), SZE > Attachments: WebHdfsAPI20111020.pdf, WebHdfsAPI20111103.pdf > > > We current have hftp for accessing HDFS over HTTP. However, hftp is a > read-only FileSystem and does not provide "write" accesses. > In HDFS-2284, we propose to have webhdfs for providing a complete FileSystem > implementation for accessing HDFS over HTTP.
