Thanks for sharing your concern. * If we implement the APIs which need superuser privilege, of course, non-superuser cannot execute them. * If superuser executes APIs, even if they are standard APIs, I think it means HttpFS box/service to proxy as a HDFS superuser. So IMHO I think the risk is not so different if we implement the APIs which need superuser privilege. And it is natural to implement them in HttpFS to keep the interoperability with the webhdfs REST HTTP API.
