[~prasad-acit] try this command: use -fs file:///, instead of 
hdfs://server:port. "-fs file:///" will bypass the RPC layer and should give 
you higher numbers at your VM.

$ ./bin/hadoop org.apache.hadoop.hdfs.server.namenode.NNThroughputBenchmark
