We are looking at adding in SubPub notification support to HADOOP. To
MapReduce for job end notification, and to HDFS for these types of events. The
work is still very preliminary HADOOP-7821, but I think this is a duplicate of
HDFS-1742, which is a subtask of HADOOP-7821 to add in these type of events.
If HADOOP-1742 would fit your needs then please dupe this JIRA to it.
