Tsz Wo (Nicholas), SZE commented on HDFS-744:
---------------------------------------------
For backporting it to 1.0, it requires a completely different patch.
For merging it to 2.0.x, the 2.0.0-alpha release is already out and we are not
supposed to add new features to a minor release. We should first send out an
email to the hdfs-dev list to check with other people. I beg no one would
object it. Lars, do you want to send the email or I could do it?

> HDFS-731 implements hsync by default as hflush. As descriibed in HADOOP-6313,
> the real expected semantics should be "flushes out to all replicas and all
> replicas have done posix fsync equivalent - ie the OS has flushed it to the
> disk device (but the disk may have it in its cache)." This jira aims to
> implement the expected behaviour.
