Aaron T. Myers commented on HDFS-3637:
--------------------------------------
JIRA was down last night when the Jenkins pre-commit job finished, but here's
the output:
{noformat}
-1 overall. Here are the results of testing the latest attachment
http://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/attachment/12539427/HDFS-3637.patch
against trunk revision .
+1 @author. The patch does not contain any @author tags.
+1 tests included. The patch appears to include 10 new or modified test
files.

compiler warnings.

-1 core tests. The patch failed these unit tests in
hadoop-common-project/hadoop-common hadoop-hdfs-project/hadoop-hdfs:
org.apache.hadoop.ha.TestZKFailoverController
org.apache.hadoop.hdfs.TestFileConcurrentReader
org.apache.hadoop.hdfs.server.namenode.metrics.TestNameNodeMetrics
org.apache.hadoop.hdfs.TestPersistBlocks
+1 contrib tests. The patch passed contrib unit tests.
Test results:
https://builds.apache.org/job/PreCommit-HDFS-Build/2962//testReport/
Console output: https://builds.apache.org/job/PreCommit-HDFS-Build/2962//console

I'm confident that the test failures are unrelated. All of these tests are
known to be flaky, and I just ran them all on my machine with this patch
applied and they passed just fine.

> Currently all HDFS RPCs performed by NNs/DNs/clients can be optionally
> encrypted. However, actual data read or written between DNs and clients (or
> DNs to DNs) is sent in the clear. When processing sensitive data on a shared
> cluster, confidentiality of the data read/written from/to HDFS may be desired.
