Aaron T. Myers commented on HDFS-2802:
--------------------------------------

Just FYI - I've set up a nighly Jenkins build of the HDFS-2802 branch here:
https://builds.apache.org/view/G-L/view/Hadoop/job/Hadoop-Hdfs-Snapshots-Branch-build/

Currently I'm the only one who gets emailed about it. If you're a committer or
the like you can just add your email to that job configuration if you want to
get emails with the restuls. If you're not, let me or someone else with access
know and we can add your email to the list of who gets emailed by that job.
Last night a bunch of tests failed because of HDFS-4158, but if someone can
review that soon I'll check it in tonight and hopefully get a better test run.

> Snapshots are point in time images of parts of the filesystem or the entire
> filesystem. Snapshots can be a read-only or a read-write point in time copy
> of the filesystem. There are several use cases for snapshots in HDFS. I will
> post a detailed write-up soon with with more information.
