Currently, the documentation for setting up nfs for hdfs is on hortonworks'
documentation:

This set up documentation needs to be in http://hadoop.apache.org/docs/stable/,
since nfs access to hdfs is supported in hadoop 2.2.0(see
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDFS-4750)
