I am -1 on automatically renaming the directory.
+1 for printing a more meaningful error message that says ".snapshot directory
is reserved file name in the release you are upgrading to. Please rollback to
the old release and rename the directories and make changes to the applications
that rely on existence of such directories, followed by upgrade to this
release."
