It's not enough to set the dfs.web principal, you have to set up more for the 
DFS Browser to work: see HDFS-5854 for the details. 

i think the docs need to be reviewed, but also changes.txt to highlight that 
this is potentially incompatible if you had a secure cluster not yet set up for 
webhdfs
