--------------------------
Resolution: Not A Problem
HDFS currently has proper Windows environment support without relying on local
unix-like tools to be available.
Resolving as 'Not a Problem' (anymore).
> GnuWin32 coreutils df output causes DF to throw
> -----------------------------------------------
>
> Key: HDFS-174
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDFS-174
> Project: Hadoop HDFS
> Issue Type: Bug
> Reporter: Albert Strasheim
> Priority: Minor
>
> The output from GnuWin32's coreutils's df looks like this:
> C:\Program Files\GnuWin32\bin>df -k "C:\hadoop-0.13.0"
> Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
> df: `NTFS': No such file or directory
> - 96124924 86288848 9836076 90% C:\
> This causes DF's parsing to fail with the following exception:
> Exception in thread "main" java.io.IOException: df: `NTFS': No such file or
> directory
> at org.apache.hadoop.fs.DF.doDF(DF.java:65)
> at org.apache.hadoop.fs.DF.<init>(DF.java:54)
> at org.apache.hadoop.fs.DF.main(DF.java:168)
> Fixing this would be useful since it might allow for Hadoop to be used
> without installing Cygwin.
