Tsz Wo (Nicholas), SZE commented on HDFS-5778:
----------------------------------------------
The "dfsadmin -rollingUpgrade start" command actually creates a fsimage for
rollback. Cluster should remains running as usual when running the command.
After the rollback image is created, admin may start rolling upgrade the
machines following the order mentioned in the doc.
The term "start" in the command may be confusing. A better term is "prepare".
I am going to change it in HDFS-6004.

> "hdfs dfsadmin -rollingUpgrade" command was newly added in HDFS-5752, and
> some other commands and parameters will be added in the future. This issue
> exists to flag undocumented commands and parameters when HDFS-5535 branch is
> merging to trunk.
