The code changes are quite large to begin with and I suspect that we will be
making quite a lot of changes after soliciting feedback from the HDFS
community.
It would be great to do this work on a separate branch where we are not doing
frequent re-base to the trunk.
Seeking for guidance from the HDFS committers.
