That would require a lot more work on the part of the application developer --
some mechanism to expose the audit log (HTTP server on the NN?), custom code to
find the desired starting point in the log, custom code to filter out undesired
events, some sort of custom access control system, etc. We want to provide a
user-friendly API like Linux inotify.
