logging for 0.23

Hello, I launched the 0.23 hdfs namenode in the background as follows:

$ hdfs --config conf/ namenode &

No NN log is being created in the logs/ directory:

$ ls logs/
SecurityAuth.audit  yarn-hadoop-resourcemanager-ns388163.ovh.net.out

Any ideas?
