Subject: [SACOLIST] Special Tentative Subject List 2212a is now available

In March 2022, the Library of Congress announced that it would support changing
the subject heading of Slaves to Enslaved persons. At that time, the
African-American SACO Funnel kindly agreed to do the necessary research and
make the proposals. After a considerable amount of work on their part, the
proposals are now ready to go forward and are open for comment. The tentative
list is available here:

Anyone who wishes to comment on these proposals can send in their comments to
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>.

The list meeting at which these proposals may be discussed takes place on
December 16, 2022.

Related work on Library of Congress Classification will be evaluated for a
future project.

The funnel also made the related proposals for the CYAC subject headings, which
are available here as well:

Anyone who wishes to comment on these proposals can send in their comments to
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>.

The Library of Congress wishes to thank the African-American SACO Funnel for
their careful, thorough research and hard work in moving these proposals
forward. We could not have done it without them.
