From: SACO Cataloging Discussion List <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Ranieri, Veronica Lee Sent: Monday, November 21, 2022 2:43 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [SACOLIST] Special Tentative Subject List 2212a is now available
In March 2022, the Library of Congress announced that it would support changing the subject heading of Slaves to Enslaved persons. At that time, the African-American SACO Funnel kindly agreed to do the necessary research and make the proposals. After a considerable amount of work on their part, the proposals are now ready to go forward and are open for comment. The tentative list is available here: https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://classweb.org/tentative-subjects/2212a.html__;!!KGKeukY!3iUKWDKrBow4SBGFL48AU5jU81_jmhpgoz_Q8_67HTdZZKbHytJMxB9WnT9B1jKXpwaHDJjBmteyId-U3CbqIi73zhMM8w$ Anyone who wishes to comment on these proposals can send in their comments to [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>. The list meeting at which these proposals may be discussed takes place on December 16, 2022. Related work on Library of Congress Classification will be evaluated for a future project. The funnel also made the related proposals for the CYAC subject headings, which are available here as well: https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://classweb.org/tentative-subjects/2212ya.html__;!!KGKeukY!3iUKWDKrBow4SBGFL48AU5jU81_jmhpgoz_Q8_67HTdZZKbHytJMxB9WnT9B1jKXpwaHDJjBmteyId-U3CbqIi7JQlZF9w$ Anyone who wishes to comment on these proposals can send in their comments to [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>. The Library of Congress wishes to thank the African-American SACO Funnel for their careful, thorough research and hard work in moving these proposals forward. We could not have done it without them. --- https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://classweb.org/tentative-subjects/2212a.html__;!!KGKeukY!3iUKWDKrBow4SBGFL48AU5jU81_jmhpgoz_Q8_67HTdZZKbHytJMxB9WnT9B1jKXpwaHDJjBmteyId-U3CbqIi73zhMM8w$ LIBRARY OF CONGRESS SUBJECT HEADINGS TENTATIVE MONTHLY LIST 12 LCSH2 (December 16, 2022) ________________________________ The proposed headings on this list are NOT YET APPROVED and not yet available for use in current cataloging. ________________________________ ________________________________ Send all comments on this list to the Policy, Training, and Cooperative Programs Division - Email: [email protected]<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://classweb.org/tentative-subjects/**Bmailto:[email protected]**B__;4oCd4oCd!!KGKeukY!3iUKWDKrBow4SBGFL48AU5jU81_jmhpgoz_Q8_67HTdZZKbHytJMxB9WnT9B1jKXpwaHDJjBmteyId-U3CbqIi72xJfhcQ$ > by (date) ________________________________ "(A)" indicates pre-approved proposals for material in Priority 1.
